Bank data feeds service

Some years ago, BSN & Co purchased Banklink software, now called MYOB Connected Ledger, and many of our clients now use the service for the ongoing processing of monthly transactions, as it eases the record keeping burden and facilitates the preparation of periodic or year end financial reporting.

At the end of each month, your bank or other financial institution (on your authority) simply provides a copy of the transactions recorded for that month.  We download the statement of withdrawals and deposits in a format to facilitate the identification of transactions.  After a few months there is a memory capacity within the software to automatically code the regular debits and credits.

Of course, these days many transactions are identified on statements through Billpay etc and we encourage Connected Ledger clients to take advantage of any opportunity to have the respective institutions identify payees/transactions.

Naturally, we need to ask our clients to identify the remaining entries in the coding reports, but at least the processing takes place on a current “as you go” basis rather than after year end and later, as is usually the case.  Once the coding is completed in Connected Ledger, we simply export the data to our accounting program.

We absorb the Connected Ledger charges because it helps our clients keep up to date with their ongoing bookkeeping and reconciliation, saving them time.  Then, after the end of the financial year, only year end adjustments are required to finalise financial statements.

Connected Ledger also incorporates goods and services tax bookkeeping and provides BAS reports which we lodge electronically for our clients.

From our experience the service is well worth consideration.
